Special Education Needs
The Special Education Needs Department mission is to foster a positive Learning environment for all our students. The role of the SEN team is to assess, plan, monitor and review a student’s progress. The team works in collaboration with parents, teachers, students and our guidance department. Our SEN Team facilitates the meaningful inclusion of students with SEN within the whole school, with emphasis on effective teaching and learning . The SEN department is responsible for preparing applications for Reasonable Accommodations in state examinations and also making applications for in school student supports. Special Needs Assistants are an integral part of our SEN team, who look after our students with the most need.
The behaviour for learning teacher addresses the behavioural needs of all students in the school. The students with the most behavioural needs will work with the behaviour for learning teacher. There will also be groups of students who work with the behaviour for learning teacher to; accelerate their literacy and numeracy, enhance their self-esteem, work on social skills, better manage their time and materials, relationships with friends and teachers in the school building and build their ability to concentrate in lessons. The behaviour for learning teacher develops the positive behaviour strategies as they see fit and is an integral part of the Special Education Needs Department.
