Classroom Based Work and Extra Curricular Activities

This year in Ethical Education the students studied

Goal 13: Climate Action

Goal 14: Life Below Water.

During the school year the students were given time to reflect on how our actions in school and outside of school can harm the environment. Once they reflected fully on this, they decided to have a Climate Action Week. The student sustainability team ran a survey to see what the students thought we could do about the issues raised and the week before climate action week, they lead assemblies to teach the every year group about the issues facing our planet and show they ways they can slow the impact down.

During this week they created a biodiverse area to attract new animals to our campus. They spread bee bombs and created bird seed holders out of plastic bottles to attract more birds. In their Horticulture lessons, they learnt why biodiversity is important when trying to impact climate change. The students in 1st, 2nd and 4th year completed an hour of litter picking on our campus and in our community. All students had a zero power hour to reduce the amount of energy we were using daily.

Students now litter pick on our campus and around our community every day. Have a look at the students enagaing in the projects below
